Husbandry in Egypt

A vessel's smaller requirements can often create the biggest demands on your time.

WUSA provides comprehensive husbandry support for vessels calling at Egyptian ports and passing through the Suez Canal, coordinating everything from crew and medical requirements to ship spares, stores, technicians and Cash to Master.

Whatever your vessel needs while it's in Egypt, our team gives you one local point of contact to get it arranged.

//01 One Contact for Everything Else

Not every vessel requirement fits neatly into a port call or transit schedule.

A spare part needs collecting. A technician needs access to the vessel. A crew member needs medical attention. Stores need delivering. Cash needs to reach the Master.

Individually, these may be relatively small requirements. Managing several of them remotely can quickly become another matter.

WUSA coordinates the people, permissions, transport and local arrangements needed to get them done, keeping the vessel and principal informed throughout.

//02 Small RequirementS CAN BE A Big Distraction

The cost of a vessel requirement isn't always measured by the size of the invoice.

Finding a supplier, arranging access, coordinating transport, obtaining permissions and following up from another country can consume valuable time for something relatively straightforward.

That's where a good local agent earns its place.

Tell WUSA what needs to happen and our team can coordinate the arrangements on the ground, leaving you free to concentrate on the vessel and the voyage rather than managing the logistics behind every individual requirement.

//03 Wherever Your Vessel Needs Support

Vessel requirements can arise at any point in an operation, whether during a port call or while passing through the Suez Canal.

WUSA can coordinate husbandry support around your vessel's location and schedule, helping you take care of requirements while the vessel is already in Egyptian waters.

Through our teams in Port Said, Alexandria and Suez, we provide coordinated support across Egypt's principal maritime areas.

One requirement or several, you can rely on us.

//04 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What husbandry services can WUSA arrange?

WUSA can coordinate a wide range of vessel requirements including ship spares, stores and provisions, fresh water, Cash to Master, crew transportation and accommodation, medical assistance, surveyors, superintendents, technicians, launch services, customs clearance, waste disposal and other operational requirements. If you need something that isn't listed, contact our team and we'll advise on the available options. Our team liaises with local suppliers, the vessel and relevant parties to coordinate the operation around the vessel's schedule and requirements.

Can WUSA provide husbandry services without acting as our port agent?

Yes. WUSA can be appointed specifically to coordinate husbandry requirements even where another company is acting as the vessel's nominated port agent. Our team can liaise with the vessel, principal, appointed agent and other relevant parties as required to complete the requested services.

Can husbandry services be arranged during a Suez Canal transit?

Many vessel requirements can be coordinated in connection with a Suez Canal transit, subject to the vessel's schedule, location and applicable operational requirements. Send us the vessel's ETA and requirements and our team can advise what can practically be arranged without unnecessarily affecting the vessel's passage.

Can WUSA arrange urgent ship spares and deliveries?

Yes. WUSA can coordinate the receipt, customs clearance where required, local transportation and delivery of urgent ship spares, equipment and documents to vessels in Egypt. The available delivery arrangements will depend on the vessel's location and schedule.

Can WUSA arrange medical assistance for crew members?

Yes. We can coordinate medical and dental appointments, transportation and other local arrangements for crew members requiring treatment while the vessel is in Egypt. Where required, we can also coordinate with the vessel and relevant authorities regarding the necessary shore arrangements.

How far in advance should we request husbandry services?

As early as possible, particularly where customs clearance, specialist suppliers, technicians or authority approvals are involved. However, we understand that many husbandry requirements arise unexpectedly. Our team can also respond to short-notice requests and will advise quickly on what can realistically be arranged within the available time.
