Port Agency in Egypt

Every port call brings together a number of parties, each with their own responsibilities, requirements and timings. WUSA provides experienced local representation to bring those moving parts together.

From pre-arrival planning and port formalities through to operations, services and final departure, our team coordinates the call on behalf of owners, operators and charterers across Egypt.

Our job is to keep you informed, keep the operation coordinated and make your port call as straightforward as possible.

//01 Managing Your PORT CALL

A successful port call depends on what happens before the vessel arrives just as much as what happens alongside.

WUSA begins preparing from nomination, coordinating with the vessel, principal, port, terminal, authorities and other parties involved in the call. Once the vessel arrives, our local team follows the operation through to completion and final sailing.

Throughout the call, your dedicated WUSA contact provides a clear line of communication between the vessel and shore, keeping you informed of progress and addressing operational requirements as they arise.

We take care of:

  • Pre-arrival documentation and port formalities

  • Port and terminal coordination

  • Berthing and sailing arrangements

  • Customs, immigration and authority liaison

  • Pilotage, towage and launch arrangements

  • Cargo operation coordination

  • Operational attendance and follow-up

  • Crew requirements

  • Ship spares, stores and provisions

  • Surveyor, superintendent and technician attendance

  • PDA, FDA and disbursement management

  • Departure clearance and documentation

  • Regular operational updates

//02 ONE CALL… Multiple options

A vessel rarely arrives in port with only one thing to accomplish.

Alongside its primary operation there may be crew changes, spares to deliver, stores to arrange, surveyors or technicians to attend, Cash to Master, medical requirements or other husbandry needs.

WUSA can coordinate these requirements as part of the same port call, giving the principal one local point of contact rather than a collection of separate arrangements.

The objective isn't to add more to the call. It's to make better use of the time your vessel is already there.

//03 LOCAL PRESENCE Matters

As your port agent, we represent your interests as if they were our own.

WUSA combines more than four decades of experience in Egyptian shipping with teams on the ground across the country's principal maritime locations. That local presence gives our clients direct access to people who understand the ports, authorities, procedures and practical realities behind each call.

When circumstances change, you don't need another layer of communication. You need somebody locally who understands the situation and can act on it.

//04 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Which Egyptian ports does WUSA provide port agency services at?

WUSA provides port agency and vessel support across Egypt’s principal Mediterranean and Red Sea ports. Our WUSA teams cover Port Said, the Suez Canal and Suez area, while our sister company, Worms Alexandria Cargo Services (WACS), provides local representation across Alexandria, Damietta, Idku and other Mediterranean ports. Together, our teams provide owners, operators and charterers with coordinated agency support across Egypt through one established network.

What information does WUSA need to arrange a port call?

Requirements vary according to the vessel, port and purpose of call. We will normally require the vessel’s principal particulars, ETA, previous and next ports, cargo information where applicable, purpose of call and details of any additional services required. Following nomination, our operations team will confirm the documentation and information required for the specific port and operation.

How far in advance should WUSA be nominated as port agent?

We recommend nominating WUSA as soon as the port call is confirmed. Early nomination gives our team more time to prepare documentation, coordinate with the relevant port, terminal and authorities, arrange any additional services and identify potential issues before arrival. Short-notice appointments can also be handled where circumstances require.

What does WUSA handle before the vessel arrives?

Our work begins well before arrival. WUSA coordinates pre-arrival documentation and formalities, communicates with the port, terminal and relevant authorities, follows the vessel’s ETA and prepares the arrangements required for its arrival and operation. We also coordinate any additional requirements requested by the vessel or principal so they are ready at the appropriate time.

Can WUSA arrange husbandry and crew services during the port call?

Yes. In addition to the primary port agency appointment, WUSA can coordinate crew changes, transportation, accommodation, medical assistance, ship spares, stores and provisions, Cash to Master, surveyors, technicians and other husbandry requirements. Combining these services through one local team can simplify coordination and make better use of the vessel’s time in port.

Can WUSA provide an estimated cost before the vessel arrives?

Yes. Based on the vessel’s particulars, port, purpose of call and anticipated requirements, WUSA can prepare a Proforma Disbursement Account providing an estimate of the expected port call costs. Where requirements change during the call, our team keeps the principal informed of any material additional costs before the Final Disbursement Account is prepared.
